Commandant's Corner With 10 years firmly behind us, a big Semper Fi to all our charter members. Without them, none of this would have been possible. Our meeting and celebration went off great with a pot luck supper and the ladies auxiliary had an entertaining Newlyweds Game which was won by The Glynn's. The 50/50 winner Major Johnson had a big smile and cash in hand. This should come in handy as the Major has a new addition to his family, a baby girl. I can't wait for my cigar. Our March meeting saw our elections of officers. The sign-up for the Memorial Day safety brake has begun. As it will be a four day weekend, please help out by working shift!! Bill Webb has been signing up people for Springfield Cardinals training and getting ready for the new season. The 3/24 I & I staff is ready to man a stand and join in on the fun. As for me I have joined the employed again. I am not sure of my work schedule yet as I am a tour guide at Fantastic Caverns and the season is just beginning. On a brighter note our Memorial Team is now receiving request from the MO Veteran's Cemetery. Way to go team!! Our April meeting will be the installation of officers and awards ceremonies. As it appears Spring may be on it's way, it is time to put the longs johns away and come out to the meetings. Semper Fi

Marine Corps League Auxiliary: March Newsletter February 14, 2008 was a great turn out. The food was enjoyed by all. Bill and Mary Lou Webb, Ray and Vicki Glynn, and Menno and Theresa Perks did a great job at playing the Not-so-Newlywed Game. Ray and Vicki Glynn were the big winners of the evening walking away with a gift certificate to Rodizio. Eddie and Kim Flores were missed but she had to work. Next time. We will have to see what we can come up with at the picnic that everyone will be able to stay and watch the fun. As always the Marines and family's are in my thoughts and prayers. Until next time. |

MCLA Southwest Missouri
On March 1st Joe Thurman, Connie Hammons, Priscilla Burnett and I met at the Home for our visit and immediately started holding conversations with a few of our Veteran's that were there. We were promptly approached by an Assistant Activity Director that told us that we had to leave due to the flu epidemic that was going around. She apologized that we weren't called or notified but that would be corrected in the future. We may try to reschedule this month if the danger is past. I was able to get a new list and we now have 13 Marine residents. Lloyd Haggard, Bertha Johnson and Mary (Sullens) Lee are the new residents and we look forward in meeting them at our next visit. I also brought 325 bibs for their use and also many white washcloths.
The most rewarding things in life are often the ones that look like they cannot be done.
God Bless you all,
Ray Glynn
